Pearson Hydraulics has been at the forefront of the fluid power industry since 1964. It delivers quality hydraulic hose and fittings and exceptional service to valued customers.
With six decades of hydraulic experience and dedication to continuous improvement, Pearson Hydraulics’ reputation as a trusted supplier in the hydraulic industry is second to none.
In 2023, Pearson Hydraulics was acquired by R&G Fluid Power Group. R&G Fluid Power Group is on a mission to become the market-leading fluid power company through the careful acquisition of the UK’s most successful fluid power companies.
R&G Fluid Power Group approached Fluid with the challenge to transform the Pearson Hydraulics website. It would be used as a test case for how these challenges could be overcome and – if successful – would be used as the website template for the other brands owned by the group.

At Fluid, we find the best way to connect to our clients is to use as many human touch points as possible at the start of the journey, especially for a project build as large and complex as this one.
We sat down with the Pearson Hydraulics team and worked through all requirements and challenges. Based on these discovery sessions, we carried out the following:
Implement Pearson Hydraulics on Adobe Commerce
The first requirement was to establish the correct ecommerce application for the website to run on. Adobe Commerce was the right fit due to its out-of-the-box B2B functionality and bespoke customisation.
Being able to add additional websites to the environment in the future was also a key factor in choosing Adobe Commerce.
Implement advanced Adobe Commerce B2B functionality
The new site comes with advanced B2B features from Adobe Commerce, including: Company account management, purchase orders, payment on account, quicker order and requisition lists.
Used Hyvä Themes for the frontend
We recommended to Pearson Hydraulics that we build the website using Hyvä Themes – the most modern frontend available for Adobe Commerce.
Compared to the standard Adobe Commerce Luma theme, Hyvä provides a faster-loading site, higher Google performance scores, better SEO rankings and a more cost-effective development structure.
Create a custom integration with OGL Profit+
The next challenge and possibly the most important to the client was integrating their ERP/OMS system, which is provided by OGL Profit+. We reviewed all of the services that Pearson Hydraulics were using and created an intrinsic custom integration to cater for all of their needs.
The custom integration with OGL Profit+ can be used for any additional businesses that R&G Fluid Power Group wish to move over to the environment in the future.
Set up a marketing automation platform
We suggested Klaviyo for the client’s email & SMS automation needs. Klaviyo’s simple workflows and easy setup allowed Pearson Hydraulics to use it on the day of launch.
They have set up automation workflows for various customer journeys and are looking at using Klaviyo to send all order confirmation emails and text messages in the future.
Next steps – PIM integration with Plytix
We partner with several PIM software providers and spoke to the client at length about their requirements before recommending Plytix.
Plytix is an easy-to-use, quick-to-implement and affordable option for the SME market.
Looking forward, Pearson Hydraulics can expect increased operational efficiency, improved scalability for future growth, and enhanced customer engagement through the powerful marketing automation and product management tools now in place.
This project not only serves Pearson Hydraulics but also sets the blueprint for transforming other brands within the R&G Fluid Power Group.
