The best and the brightest of the ecommerce and online retailing world gathered for the eCommerce Show North 2018 this November. Coined the biggest eCommerce expo outside London, the show is a 2-day spectacular showcasing leading industry experts.
This is an annual event that should be in every business diary. But don’t worry if you couldn’t make it this year. We’ve put together a quick round up of the show…
Introducing the eCommerce Show North
So, what is the eCommerce Show North 2018 all about?
The event attracts up to 3,000 visitors and more than 120 exhibitors from a range of services, companies and vendors. This includes powerhouses such as American Express, Barclaycard, CIM and Hermes.
The purpose of the event is to promote and discuss “platforms, payments, analytics, security, marketing, hosting, backbone, logistics, mobile, hardware and innovation,” with experts from across the fields taking time to share their knowledge and expertise.
Why Manchester?
With an ever-growing working population, more and more people are heading up north to work. The digital industry in particular is booming in Manchester, with the tech sector worth £2.9bn and growing.
The city has it all, with a thriving business base and exciting extracurriculars. Whether you prefer fantastic networking opportunities or just an great game of football, there’s something for everyone in the North West.
That’s exactly why eCommerce Show North was held at EventCity in Manchester – attracting the best of the best from across the country.
What was covered?
As ecommerce experts filled up the venue, it was clear that the show was going to be jam-packed with digital goodness.
Each day was filled with insightful presentations and expert business talks, sessions and seminars. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn from our peers and other leading experts – looking at case studies and real-life problem solving. Panel discussions were also a great way to get a wider view of the industry.
“Has the Influence Bubble Burst?” was the key discussion of day one. This explored influencer marketing, looking at the future of the digital marketing landscape. Day two also had a fantastic opportunity for audience participation with a panel discussion on whether Instagram is getting “too powerful”.
“The Road to Magento 2…”
Other highlights included a presentation from our very own Managing Director, Adam Hindle. On day one he took to the stage to discuss “The Road to Magento 2 – Successful Migrations”

Northern eCommerce Awards
The fun didn’t stop there. Celebrations carried on into to the night with the Northern eCommerce Awards (NECAs) ceremony. The NECAs was a celebration of the best in the business, delivered by Don’t Panic and Prolific North. Armed with our handbags and glad rags, the Fluid Digital team certainly scrubs up well.
